5,320 Displaced Households get N1.2bn Fadama lll Support in Yobe

Yobe commissioner for Agriculture,  Alhaji Mustapha Gajerima, says the N1.2 billion food assistance and livelihood support provided by Fadama lll Additional Financing ll has facilitated rehabilitation of 5, 320 displaced households in the state.

Gajerima stated this on Monday in Damaturu while receiving the Internal Mission Team supervising Fadama lll programmes in the state.

He said 5,320 households from 14 local government areas who benefited from the programme were engaged in various agricultural economic recovery in their communities.

He said the beneficiaries were into rain-fed and irrigation agriculture, livestock farming and fishing to reclaim their means of livelihood.

According to the commissioner, the rural infrastructure development projects of Fadama lll which includes roads, drains and market stalls construction, has eased movement of goods and services into the returnee communities.

The State Project Coordinator of Fadama lll, Alhaji Musa Garba, said the State Government had paid N40 million counterpart fund to qualify for the 2016/2017 intervention.

He commended the state government for it’s commitment to participate in the programme to improve the people’s lives.

Alhaji Ibrahim Alkali, Desk officer and mission team leader, inaugurated the 1.6 kilometer Malam-Matari feeder road constructed by Fadama lll.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and the contribution of the road to rehabilitation process of the community.

Ya kyellu Abba, a resident of Malam-Matari, said the road would stimulate economic activities in the community.

“We use to pass, trespassing through some houses to go to the market during the rainy season.

“This road constructed by Fadama lll has provided a permanent solution to the problem,” Ya Kyellu said. (NAN)
