The Head of the Civil Service of Federation (HOS) Mr Danladi Kifasi, has commenced unscheduled visits to two federal ministries, with a view to ascertaining the work ethics of civil servants.
According to a statement issued by Alhaji Haruna Imrana, the Director of Communications in the HOS office, Kifasi paid his maiden visit to Ministries of Power and Aviation.
While receiving his guest, Amb. Godknows Igali, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, gave assurance that the ministry was working hard to improve electricity supply in the country, the statement said.
It quoted Igali as saying that the ministry was making efforts to harness the abundant solar power in the country, in addition to exploring further strategies to improve power supply.
Igali, whom the HOS met at his desk, later summoned the ministry`s directors to welcome the August visitor.
According to the statement, the HOS also visited the Ministry of Aviation, where he met with the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Binta Bello, and other directors of the ministry.
Bello, the statement said, informed the HOS that the ministry was currently reconstructing four international airports to meet global standard and ensure the safety of air travellers.
She said that the airports would be equipped with the necessary commercial facilities for revenue generation.
The statement added that the HOS, at the ministries visited, stressed the need for Civil Servants to be ICT compliant and uphold work ethics.
It further added that the HOS charged civil servants to be conversant with the zero budgeting system, to ensure transparency and to be abreast with the Freedom of Information Act.
This, he said, would guarantee open and accountable governance.
The HOS, the statement further said, expressed satisfaction with his findings.
He, however, noted that while most top management staff were on seat, some offices were empty at the time of his visit.
It added the HOS would continue with such visits to other ministries in due course.
