The Defence headquarters has denied a newspaper report alleging that three thousand of the re-engaged soldiers have embarked on hunger strike for not being posted back to their units.

A statement by the acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar expresses dismay at the report describing it as false.

The statement said the soldiers are enthusiastic and full of praises to the Military authorities for giving them another chance to serve their fatherland and accomplish their careers.

It advises t he media, to continue to embrace its professional ethics and verify all facts before going to press, adding that the Media remains a partner in the war against terrorism and other crime in society.

The statement also says that it is taboo for any Military personnel to embark on strike in an attempt to address any grievances as the military has ample avenue for complaints of its personnel to be addressed.
