The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja –His Eminence Most Rev. Dr. John Cardinal Onaiyekan has reminded Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper by continuously giving arms to the less privilege in the society. He said this at the first 2016 deanery cathedraticum hosted by St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Lokogoma-Abuja.
Cathedraticum is a word that derives its meaning from the Latin word “cathedra” which is the name for the Bishop’s chair as the leader of the Catholic Diocese. The support given to the bishop is what is called Cathedraticum. It is a fund that is given to the bishop with the aim of supporting bishop’s pastoral works in the diocese which includes helping the poor and less privileged.
While speaking to the NTA reporter, He urged Nigerians to try and remain joyful. Rather than be sad at things they do not have, they should thank God for the little they have.
He added that no matter how things get bad, there are always things to be grateful for.
Other five deaneries under the Abuja Catholic Arch-diocese are enjoined to take cue in giving as they prepare for their own celebration of giving
