Yobe Desert Rollers of Damaturu on Monday thrashed IGP Flickers of Abuja 4-1 at the ongoing Hockey Super League in Abuja.
Husaini Bala of Yobe Desert Rollers opened the scores in the 13th minute of the game while Sadi Adamu added the second goal in the 21st minute.
The IGP Flickers scored their only goal in the 26th minute after a brilliant play by Adamu Suleimani.
Sadi Adamu added his second goal to raise Yobe Desert Rollers’ tally in the 28th minute while the fourth goal came from Michael Agbaegbu in the 59th minute of the game.
Coach Ado Baba of Yobe Desert Rollers expressed the hope that they are out to win the league.
He said determination, focus and discipline gave the team the victory.
“We have played two matches. We lost our first match against Union Bank, and this is our second match.
“From our first match, we made some mistakes. So we went to the drawing board and came out with determination, focus and discipline,” he said.
Baba said he was able to read through the previous games of IGP Flickers to come out better prepared.
On his part, Sunday Danladi, the IGP Flickers captain, said the team lost due to technical problems.
He said that most of his team mates had injuries, expressing that they were now full of hope that they would recover before their next match.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that IGP Flickers have now lost all of the club’s three matches.
