Prof. Amidu Sanni, Imam of the Lagos State University (LASU) Jumaat Mosque, on Friday advised Muslim faithful to maintain close relationship with Allah, in order to achieve true salvation.
Sanni, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages at the university, gave the admonition during the Jumaat prayers at the mosque.
“Allah has made himself accessible to all mankind, and He has given clear directions towards salvation.
“Sin and evil acts are what distance man from true salvation, and they create avoidable societal problems.
“We should strive to be close to Allah by remembering Him all the time, and this will create required peace and orderliness in our society,’’ he said.
The cleric emphasised that righteousness is what makes easy access to Allah.
“Those who live righteous lives are loved by Allah, and they will benefit the most on the day of judgement.
“By being close to Allah, we will find it easy to overcome temptation and sin.
“The gains of righteousness are enormous, we should always trust and believe that Allah is capable of giving us succour because He has solutions to all our problems.
“We should also know that Allah is most merciful and forgiving to the truly repentant Muslim,’’ he added. (NAN)
