The Executive Governor of Kebbi Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has disclosed that the Anchor Borrowers Loan is being extended particularly to assist women in areas of livestock rearing, poultry and dairy produce. He said this when he addressed the wives of LG chairmen meeting with his wife, Dr Zainab Bagudu.
The recent outbreak of diarrhea and vomiting, school enrollment and women skills acquisition were the main topic of discussion at the meeting.
Led by the chairperson of the group Dr Hadiza Muhammed Sama wife of Augie LG Chairman, each presented challenges faced in her local government area on the 3 issues, their efforts thus far in solving and how best the wife of governor could help. Of utmost concern to the entire group is the recent outbreak of gastroenteritis which is now under control.
Resource persons were brought in by Her Excellency to guide the women on how to key into state/LG resources to complement their advocacy. Dr Abubakar Kaoje a consultant family physician said the swift action by the department for disease control and spread of drugs has contained the disease but still urged the mothers to teach improved hygiene practices in communities and administration of ORS. Director Ministry of Education Haj Asmau Alkali and Mrs Zainab Ambursa of the SDG spoke on improving the upcoming school enrollment and how to access training for women respectively. Mrs Ambursa said her agency recently met the 21 LG chairmen and asked for names to be submitted for training.
