Mr Ostia Aboloma, the Director General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), has inaugurated Service Compact (SERVICOM) committee in the organisation in a bid to strengthen service delivery to Nigerians.
Head of Public Relations of SON, Mr Bola Fashina, said this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.
Aboloma said that SON was rendering various services to the general public under the standardisation umbrella which had amplified the need for a SERVICOM implementation committee.
According to him, SON subscribes fully to the tenets of the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Standards which in itself is a globally recognised mechanism for effective service delivery.
He said the committee would enable SON to guarantee improved services to the nation.
Aboloma advised the committee to ensure that all staff of SON subscribed to the laudable initiative to further improve the lives of Nigerians through standards and quality assurance.
Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, the National Coordinator of SERVICOM, acknowledged the importance of setting up SERVICOM implementation modalities in the organisation as one the foremost government organisation that offered services.
Akajemeli then decorated Aboloma as a SERVICOM Ambassador and presented some literature to signify the commencement of SERVICOM activities in SON.
The committee is chaired by the Head of SON Library Services, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, as Nodal Officer with membership drawn from various departments for effective implementation.
The objectives of SERVICOM are to provide quality service to the people, set out the entitlement of the citizens, ensure good leadership and educate citizens (customers) on their rights.
It also empowers public officers to be alert to their responsibilities in providing improved, efficient and timely services. (NAN)
