National Human Rights Commission has re-iterated its resolve at ensuring that the universal declaration of human rights is fully entrenched in Nigeria.
This was made known at an exhibition on the universal declaration of human rights in local languages held in Abuja.
Sixty years ago, the United Nations General Assembly Declaration human rights as a bulk walk against oppression and discrimination making the rights and freedom applicable to every person across the globe.
Research also reveals that one of the numerous successes achieved by the UN General Assembly in its quest at promoting and entrenching human rights is the translation of the Universal Declaration into nearly 350 national and local languages making it the best known and most cited human rights document in the World.
It is in view of this that the National Human Rights Commission in Nigeria (NHRC) in collaboration with Mexican embassy in Nigeria came up with a translation of the 30 articles of the universal declaration in Nigeria’s 3 major indigenous languages.
