The Nigerian Navy says it will continue to give priority to capacity building for effectiveness and efficiency, in its bid to re position the service to conform to best global practices in waterway security.

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas stated this at the interdenominational church service to commemorate the Nigeria Navy diamond jubilee

The service procession was lead by the Chief of Naval Staff after which he took the first reading, the sermon which was centered about endurance in commitment was taken by a Naval Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Robert Oparaji.

The Navy was Established in 1956 with a number of two-hundred and fifty staffs and has now successfully grown to about twenty-five thousand equipped and trained staffs.
