The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, is collaborating with the European Union on early recovering of communities that were ravaged by the recent flood disasters in the Country. The Director General of the Agency, Muhammed Sani Sidi, who received a delegation of experts from the Union noted the collaboration will further boost Government’s efforts at assisting the affected communities. He urged the team to identify the gaps that have not been adequately addressed, adding that Nigeria is better prepared to tackle disasters including this year’s prediction.
The leader of the Delegation, Kimma Tuominen, said the European Union will assist in the areas of flood information management, especially as it relates to forecast, alert procedures and early warning systems. The team is expected to visit some of the affected Communities in Benue and Kogi States.
