The ICPC Commence Crackdown on Illegal Universities

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has commenced a nationwide crackdown on illegal Universities. Professor Olu Aina, Chairman, ICPC/NUC Task Team said this at a joint press briefing in Abuja. more than one hundred illegal degree-awarding Universities have been identified across the country. Out of these, 61 are located in Abuja, 41 other locations share addresses while the rest cannot be traced.

The Chairman said operators of these illegal Universities will be arrested and prosecuted according to the enabling act. The continued existence of these illegal institutions is seen as a corruption of the education system. The Commission advises the Public to patronise institutions approved by the regulatory body as certificates acquired from these illegal institutions are useless.
