Since it handed off funding basic Education the Tertiary Education Trust Fund has so far spent more than five hundred and seventy four billion naira to support publicly owned Institutions in 2011. In the same vein, seventy three point three billion has been earmarked as matching grant from 2011 to 2013 for the basic Education sub-sector. Increase in funding is said to have yielded tremendous progress in the Education sector.
The Ministerial Platform shifted focus from Ministers to Chief Executives of Parastatals.This the Minister of Information said is to give Nigerians access to in depth accountability.
For UBEC and TETFUND, which are saddled with the responsibility of ensuring access, equity and quality education for all Nigerians, the Minister could not help but marvel at their success story. He also gave reasons why the Good Governance Tour to Edo State was restricted to Federal Government owned projects.
