The Federal government has awarded a four point three Billion naira contract for the construction of two major Federal Roads linking Benue and Cross River States. Minister of works Mile Onolememen who flagged off the two sections of the contract said the project is part of the present administration quest to transform the nation’s road sector.
The scope of the first section of the road, 20 km long, spans Manyam-Ushongo-Lessel-Kartyo-Tse-Agberagbu-Agila while the second section of this project is a 25 km road linking Vandeikya in Benue and Obudu in Cross Rivers State. The projects of the two routes that have suffered decades of neglect, when completed, will facilitate the transportation of farm produce in the area which is largely dominated by farm land. The first section of the project has a 14 month completion period while the second section is expected to be completed in 12 months.
