The Minister defied the dusty and bumpy Nasarawa-Loko road to inspect the project valued at about 36 Billion Naira. The project comprises a dualized bridge of about 2 kilometers across River Benue and approach roads of about 22 kilometers to link Loko in Nasarawa State to Oweto in Benue State.
After inspecting the project, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the work. On the economic importance of the road, the Minister stated that apart from opening up committees along the route, it would also reduce travel time to the Eastern part of Nigeria by about 2 hours.
While at the palace of the Emir of Loko, Alhaji Abubakar Sabo, the Emir expressed happiness that the project which had been proposed since 1950 finally took off during President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure. The contract for the work was signed in November 2011.
