Governor Sani Bello has indicated interest to work with the United States of America on how to efficiently and effectively tackle security challenges as well as maximize its potentials in agriculture in the state.
Receiving the US Ambassador to Nigeria at Government House, Minna, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said the state was also ready to partner with America in the areas of business, commerce and agriculture.
According to him, the area of focus would be on Shea butter which ironically have not been developed over the years because of government inability to invest in the sector.
The Governor disclosed that the state government would be sending a delegation to an agricultural conference in the US to meet and learn from producers of agric equipment and processing companies.
“A lot can be learnt from the conference, top agricultural financiers would be there and we may be fortunate to find companies to partner with”.
Governor Sani Bello noted that it was one thing to produce but that if the processing capacity is absent, it becomes a problem.
” To encourage farmers to produce more, we must have enough processing facilities. So, the value-chain needs to be completed”.
He assured that the state government was ready to partner countries and multinational agencies that are willing to enter into a mutually beneficial relationship.
Earlier, the US Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. W. Stuart Symington said America is proud to support Niger State government to accelerate progress in the specified areas for more effective service delivery to the people
