The Deputy Senate President said sixty-one State creation requests were received and analyzed by the committee comprising of representatives of all the States.
Senator Ekweremadu however said the request which had been earlier received for the creation of Adada State had the shortcomings of being signed by stakeholders who were no longer serving, which is one of the criteria. He was assured by the delegation that the new request will have no hitch. The Deputy Senate President used the opportunity to tell all those agitating for new states that the processes must be duly followed.
Nigeria had 12 States as at 1967 with the number rising to 36 after State creations 4 more times.
