More than 6000 delegates of the All Nigerian Peoples’ Party ANPP have approved the dissolution of the Party to form the new All Progressive Congress, APC. This was at a special convention the party held in Gusau, Zamfara State.
Unanimous voice votes affirmed the decision of the ANPP to join in the merger with two other parties to form All Progressive Congress. ANPP National Chairman Dr Ogbonnaya Oynu in what appeared like a valedictory speech commended ANPP members for supporting him to rebuild the party saying the same zeal will contribute in the new Party.
He said politics is a game of numbers hence the need for opposition to join hands and capture power. Various speakers including the host Governor Abdulaziz Yari who doubled as Convention Chairman and ANPP Boi chairman Senator Ali Modu sheriff described the convention as a new dawn for the opposition.
There were delegations of CPC and ACN at the event while INEC sent in a Commissioner in charge of Political Parties to monitor the process.
