The Minister of Information Labaran Maku says Nigeria remains committed to contributing to global peace despite the security challenges in some parts of the country. He made the remarks in Abuja when he received a delegation from the Global Peace Foundation, who are on a courtesy visit.
The visit by the delegation is to solicit the support of the Minister towards the hosting of the Global Peace Leadership Conference and Festival scheduled for November in Abuja. The Minister noted that Nigeria has been bearing the burden of maintaining peace globally especially in West Africa, which has significantly stabilized the peace, security and democratic governance in the sub-region.
He also said that the time has come for individuals and organizations to promote peace as the cost of violence is high.
