GMN on Retirement of Senior Army Officers script over New
The Nigerian army has clarified that 38 personnel recently issued compulsory retirement letters were given fair hearing by the board of enquiry set up to investigate their offences, and that the exercise was not meant to witch-hunt or victimize any of the officers.
The director, military civil relations, Nigerian army major General Rogers Nicholas stated this when he featured on NTA’s “good morning Nigeria” programme to shed more light on reasons for the action.
He says the military is poised to uphold professionalism and good moral character with strong respect for the tenets of democracy.
He further stated that the affected officers were found culpable on what was described as service exigencies and political partnership.
He also dispelled insinuations that the army was playing politics with the matter.
Among the 38 affected by the compulsory retirement exercise, nine were generals, 10 brigadiers-general, seven colonels, 11 lieutenant colonels and a major.
Alleged Pending Retirement of NAF Officers
Meanwhile, the Nigerian air force has refuted the report on the alleged pending retirement of senior officers connected with the ongoing investigation of arms purchase under the immediate past administration.
A statement by the director, public relations and information, NAF, group captain Ayodele Famuyinwa says that the publication is unfounded and did not emanate from the Nigerian air force.

Enlightment Campaign Against Child Abuse
