Zuma FM holds 4th Annual Agricultural Harvest Festival
The 4th Zuma Annual agricultural harvest festival took place on the 5th of December, 2020. It was also the 15th anniversary of Zuma Fm radio, the very first privately owned radio station in Niger state. This year’s event garnered major support from the bank of Industry, CBN and Nirsal Microfinance Bank.
This year’s event welcomed representation from the Niger state government;- The wife of the governor, Secretary to the state government, the speaker of the state assembly, Federal house member representing Bida/ Katcha and 5 commissioners from various ministries in the state.
Discussions around the theme of the event, “Using Radio to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on Food Security and Agriculture in Nigeria”, were lead by seasoned professionals like the SSG Mr Ahmed Ibrahim Matane , WEFM representative Miss Maimuna Yahaya amongst others.
With the radio station being one of CBN’s Entrepreneurship Development Institutes, the event was also an opportunity for our farmers to engage with Nirsal MFB towards accessing small scale loans from the bank.
The farmers within the community also came out in their numbers to showcase their rich harvest of crops and livestock. It was another opportunity for the festival team to interact with the farmers, hear about their challenges, successes and ways to create more opportunities for them. Bags of fertilizers were also distributed to them in the spirit of the anniversary celebrations and top performing farmers were also given awards for their excellence.
