Following the disturbing trends of avoidable clashes between Herdsmen and Farmers in some parts of the Country, the Federal Government is finalizing plans to call for a Town Hall dialogue involving critical stakeholders at a date to be announced.
The Nation’s Interior Minister, LT General Abdurahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd), CFR PhD, who gave this indication today, said it has become imperative to examine factors that give rise to such conflicts as well as discussing ways to finding lasting solutions to these crisis. He noted further that the realization of immense contributions of Herdsmen and Farmers to the nation’s economy has made it more expedient to have an all inclusive dialogue.
The Interior Minister maintained that the Town Hall dialogue will involve stakeholders from various umbrella associations of Herders and Farmers, State Governments, Non Governmental Organizations, Civil Societies, the media, MDAs, Professional bodies, Humanitarian Institutions etc.
The proposed dialogue will provide opportunities for various stakeholders to share views and provide honest answers to the various questions which may arise.
