Court Issues Bench Warrant to Turkish Airline

An Abuja federal high Court has issued a bench warrant against Turkish Airline for their refusal to appear before the court for the third time.

Turkish Airline was dragged to court over alleged criminal violation of the enabling law of the consumer protection council and for impunity.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami filed a three count charge against the airline and two of its principal officers.

The prosecution came as a result of the consistent refusal of the airline to respond to the lawful requests of the Consumer Protection Council for full situation report on the Turkish Airlines alleged shoddy treatment of passengers of Flight 623 from Istanbul to Abuja on the 25th and 31st of December 2015, and 9th of January, 2016.

This prompted the consumer protection council to approach the office of the attorney-general of the federation for prosecution of the airline.

Justice Babatunde Quadri adjourned the case to the 17th of April for further hearing.
