First Council Of Health Constituted In Kebbi State

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has announced the re-introduction of sanitary inspectors  towards ensuring Health and Environmental consciousness among the people. He made this known at the first State Council of Health meeting in Birnin-Kebbi from 18th to 20th April 2017 with the theme ‘ Revitalization of Primary Health Care Services Towards Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UCH)

​Governor Bagudu said optimal health is a collective societal responsibility whilst assuring that the Government would continue to invest enough resources on preventive health care in preference to curative care.

​He said the government would implement the bill already signed into law, which brings together all primary health care institutions under single management.

​He commended the organizers, participants, stakeholders, resource persons and those who contributed to the success of the state council of health meeting, the first of its kind to be held since the creation of Kebbi State aimed at exchanging ideas on how to improve healthcare delivery.

​The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Umar Usman Kambaza explained that, the state council on health meeting, the highest policy advisory body on health would come-up with resolutions to improve the healthcare and well being of the people of Kebbi State. He thanked collaborating partners: E.U & UNICEF

In attendance were the Emirs of Gwandu and Argungu namely HRHs Alhaji Sama’ila Mohammed Mera and Alhaji Mohammadu Ilyasu Bashar. Also present were Sole Administrators of 21 LGA, Commissioners, Reps of Development partners, nursing council etc

Technical Presentations were made on
-Revitalization of Primary Health Care Services towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by Dr. Faisal Shuaibu Executive Director NPHCDA ABUJA.
-Primary Health under one roof (PHCUOR): The journey so far by Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa. Perm Sec. Ministry of Health Dutse Jigawa State.
-One PHC per ward; A strategy for reaching the 225 by Dr. John Agbor, Chief of Health, UNICEF, ABUJA.
-Closing paper: Preventive care Vs Curative by His Excellency Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. The Executive Governor of Kebbi State.
