Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) on Tuesday donated drugs, consumables and food items worth N50 million to Yobe government.
The national president of the society, Alhaji Ahmed Yakassai, presented the materials on behalf of PSN to the deputy governor of the state, Abubakar Aliyu in Damaturu.
Yakassai said the society donated the materials to support the government efforts in the resettlement of displaced persons.
He advised the government to engage qualified professional pharmacists in government health institutions for effective service delivery.
In his response, the deputy governor, who chairs the state Resettlement, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation committee on IDPs, assured that the materials would be judiciously utilised for the purposes intended.
Aliyu, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Bello Kawuwa, lauded the society for delivering the drugs during the rainy season when cases of malaria are rife.
The Permanent Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Musa Jidawa, said that the drugs would be shared among the four IDPs camps in the state.
He lauded agencies and organisations partnering with the government to improve the lives and aid the resettlement of displaced persons. (NAN)
