Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau, has cautioned corps members against indulging in partisan politics.
Lalong gave the caution on Monday in Mangu, when he declared the 2018 Batch ‘C’ stream 1 NYSC Orientation closed.
The governor, who was represented by Mr Issac Maram, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youths and Sports, warned the corps members not to indulge in politics, especially with the 2019 elections approaching.
He reassured the corps members of their safety during their service year in the state.
Lalong said that the state government was working in synergy with the various security agencies in the state to ensure their safety.
He, however, urged the corps members to respect the customs, norms and traditions of their host communities.
Earlier, Mr Abdulsalam Alhassan, the NYSC State Coordinator, commended the corps members for their display of discipline during the exercise.
He said that no court sitting for trial of indiscipline or misconduct was recorded during the three weeks exercise.
Alhassan called on the corps members to bring about the needed change in their respective host communities. (NAN)
