Minister of Defense Seeks US Support on Army Aviation
The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi is seeking the United States of America’s support in the quest to establish a full fledged Nigerian Army Aviation, to further enhance the ongoing counter- terrorism campaign in the North East.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abdulkadri indicates that, the Minister stated this while the recieving the Commander US Africa Command, General Stephen Townsend and his team on working visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
Mohamed Abdulkadri notes that the Minister Commended the US for its training support to Nigeria and the
progress recorded in the supply of Super Tulcano aircraft, Thunder Boat for Maritime Operations and logistics to the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF .
The visiting Commander US AFRICOM, General Stephen Townsend expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s leading role in Africa Sub regional security affairs and
commiserated with Nigeria over the recent aircraft misharp that claimed the lives of seven crew.
