The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu says the Federal Government is set to deploy Organized Labour Migration as an instrument of National growth and development, under pinned by National Vision 20-20- 20.
This was the Minister’s message to the National Validation workshop on the Draft National Migration policy jointly organized by the Ministry of Labour and Productivity and the International Organisation for Migration represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Clement Illoh, the Minister said that the elaboration of the draft Labour Migration Policy validation was the initiative of the present administration for a well articulated managed labour migration system for National development.
The Policy he added will comply with International best practices to advance opportunities for all men and women to engage in labour migration for decent and productive employment in conditions of freedom, dignity, security and equity.
The Minister also noted that the draft labour migration policy is being reviewed to incorporate all observations and amendments before presentation to the Federal Executive Council for consideration and adoption.
Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration Mr. Martin Ocaga said the endorsement of the Policy will strengthen the legal and Police framework for organized labour migration.
