Diplomatic Push as Anti-Nigerian Sentiments Emerge in Accra

Nigerian diplomats are engaging authorities in Ghana to de-escalate tensions following street demonstrations in Accra calling for the deportation of Nigerians.

The protests have raised concerns due to the use of xenophobic rhetoric, echoing past incidents of xenophobia experienced in parts of Africa, including South Africa.

The Nigerian government says it is actively engaging through diplomatic channels to ensure the safety of its citizens and to maintain peaceful relations between both countries.
