This year’s report focuses on the principle of shared responsibility in drug control based on the recognition that the problem is a global one. While observing that the Government of Nigeria has made progress in certain areas of drug control, it highlighted the commitment of the NDLEA and NAFDAC to ensure compliance with the provisions of the international drug control treaties.

Anecdotal reports show that the trend in drug use is shifting from injectable to oral drugs and inhalants in addition to the increase in the abuse of codeine containing cough syrups.
