Ladoke Akintola Univ of Tech‎Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) Osogbo Sacks Resident Doctors

Some members of Resident Doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ‎Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) Osogbo have been sacked.

The Chief Medical Director of LAUTECH, Prof. Akeem Lasisi who confirmed this said the Doctors had to be relieved of their duties because they had overstayed the duration of their residency program.

He explained that the sack followed the forensic audit carried out in the hospital, and that it was not targeted at the resident doctors alone.

“The sacking has nothing to do with the strike embarked upon by the ARD since September 28th, 2015,” he said.

However, the President of the Association of Resident Doctors in the hospital, Dr Adeyinka Owolabi insists that the sack is linked with the current industrial action by members of his association.

The Resident Doctors at the Hospital have been on strike for more than seven months, over issues relating to unpaid salaries among others.

He thereby urged President Muhammadu Buhari and well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the state Governor to meet their demands to avoid a collapse of health care delivery in the state.

Owolabi who alleged blackmail and victimisation of his members however maintained that the current strike will continue until all pending issues are resolved.

‎He also claimed that previous attempts by some stakeholders within and outside the state to resolve the issues had failed.

The Resident Doctors in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital have embarked on an industrial action since September 28th 2015, because of salary impasse occasioned by the economic downturn that affected the state revenue, particularly from federal allocation.
