President Buhari Appreciates Renowned Poet, Niyi Osundare at 70
President Muhammadu Buhari has joined the literary world in congratulating renowned academic, poet, columnist and dramatist, Professor Niyi Osundare, as he turns 70.
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, says the President believes the septuagenarian’s sacrifices over the years can only be rewarded with strong democratic institutions that guarantee free and fair elections, and an effective governance that provides security, good health facilities and sound education to the citizenry.
As he turns 70, President Buhari commends the disciplined, forthright and diligent spirit of the erudite scholar, whose written works already span the globe, attracting numerous awards, and whose voice of wisdom will continue to resonate through generations.
Female Bombers Killed
Two female bombers have been shot dead by security
personnel near Maiduguri, Borno State. The bombers who were about 18 years of age attempted to enter Maiduguri through Umarai in Molai General Area about 9 kilometers to Maiduguri Township.
They were sighted by the civilian JTF and consequently shot dead by security personnel on duty at the area. No other loss of life or injury was recorded by the police EOD team which was mobilized to the scene to render the unexploded IED safe while normalcy has been restored in the area.
Food to IDPs
The 3rd phase of Federal Government consignment of relief material to Internally Displace Persons and Returnees in Yobe State has been delivered by the National Logistics Committee in the North East. The materials; contraband goods impounded by the Nigerian
Customs Service were distributed to beneficiaries in the seventeen local governments by the state high powered
committee on IDPs.
