The Federal Government has intensified efforts to build a fully digital and technology-driven Civil Service by training officials from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the adoption and utilisation of the 1Gov Cloud platform.
The capacity-building programme is aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to migrate government services and applications to the 1Gov Cloud, a secure digital infrastructure designed to improve efficiency, collaboration and service delivery across the public sector.
The initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to modernise public administration, reduce the cost of ICT infrastructure, enhance data security and ensure seamless access to government services.
Speaking at the training, government officials emphasised that the 1Gov Cloud platform will enable MDAs to securely host applications, store data, and share digital resources, thereby eliminating duplication of ICT investments and promoting interoperability among government institutions.
Participants were taken through practical sessions on cloud computing concepts, platform deployment, cybersecurity best practices, data management, disaster recovery and compliance with government ICT policies. The training also highlighted the role of cloud technology in improving transparency, accountability and the efficiency of public service delivery.
The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all MDAs are adequately prepared to leverage digital technologies in carrying out their mandates, noting that the success of the 1Gov Cloud initiative depends largely on the capacity of public servants to utilise the platform effectively.
Participants expressed appreciation for the training, describing it as timely and relevant to the ongoing digital transformation of the Nigerian public service. They pledged to apply the knowledge gained in accelerating the migration of their respective organisations to the 1Gov Cloud platform.
The 1Gov Cloud initiative is expected to serve as a cornerstone of the Federal Government’s drive towards a digitally enabled public sector, fostering innovation, improving operational efficiency and enhancing the delivery of citizen-centred services.
