INEC Holds Sensitization Forum With Civil Society Groups On Violence Free Election
Ahead of this month’s General Elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is calling on Civil Society organizations and other stakeholders to step up sensitization of Public towards a violence free electoral process.
This was the message as the Commission held a one day sensitization forum in Abuja.
The forum attended by members of the civil society organizations, youth groups and people with disabilities appraised Nigeria’s election and the role of the groups on how to avert violence
Experts identified non prosecution of perpetrators of such violence and lack of enough sensitization as some of the reason for the recurrence of such acts.
The INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega in a message restated the commitment of the commission for more inclusiveness in its activities. The presidential and national assembly elections is to hold March 28, 2015.
