RAMADAN: Gov. Shettima’s Wife Donates Food Items to Widows
Mrs Nana Shettima, wife of Borno Governor, Kashim Shettima, on Saturday donated assorted food items to 200 female Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
Presenting the items in Maiduguri, she said the gesture would help solve the immediate needs of the most vulnerable groups during the Ramadan period.
“Ramadan gift to this special group of people is very important because Almighty God has specifically mentioned helping the widows, orphans and the vulnerable in the Holy Quar’an.
“They are bedeviled with a lot of challenges; some of them cannot source for their daily meals while a lot of them have their own sad stories and gory tales.
“The only way we can get out of this ugly situation is to empower the needy with quality education and skills to enable them become self-reliant,” she said.
She pledged to continue to supporting such group of persons in the society within her limited resources.
“I also urge you to have confidence in yourselves and be determined to change your lives positively by engaging in any legal means of earning a living, instead of begging,” she advised
She commended the management of Elkanemi College of Islamic Theology, for sponsoring the education of 15 children of the less privileged.
One of the beneficiaries of the gesture, Mrs Zara Makaho, thanked Shettima for assistance and prayed God to reward her abundantly.(NAN)
