Eid Mubarak: Police in Niger Takes Proactive Security Measures
The Police Command in Niger says adequate security measures have been taken to ensure a peaceful Sallah festivities in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Austine Agbonlahor, made this known on Tuesday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
He said that the command would deploy undercover operatives to all Eid prayer grounds in and outside the state capital to forestall any form of security threats to residents.
“The operatives will complement the efforts of the regular security personnel that will provide security at the prayer grounds.
“The plain-clothes operatives will serve as a quick response force to foil any breakdown of law and order at places of worship and recreational centres during and after the festivities,’’ he said.
The police boss said that Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers are already on alert in their areas of jurisdictions.
“Residents should go about their normal business as sensitive security measures to guarantee the protection of lives and property are already in place,” he said.
Agbonlahor called on residents to support police efforts through giving information about suspected miscreants in their midst to ensure law and order. (NAN)
