Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has weighed in on Nigeria’s political conversation, questioning ADC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over what she described as a lack of clear alternatives to the policies he frequently criticises.
The actress, known for her outspoken views on national issues, argued that it is not enough for political leaders to point out the shortcomings of those in government without presenting practical solutions of their own.
Reacting to Obi’s recent comments on the state of the nation, Amusa said Nigerians deserve more than criticism. According to her, citizens want to hear concrete plans and realistic proposals that can address the country’s economic and social challenges.
She maintained that anyone seeking leadership must be prepared to tell the public exactly what they would do differently if given the opportunity to govern.
Amusa noted that the current political climate has left many Nigerians frustrated and eager for change, but stressed that meaningful change requires more than highlighting existing problems. She said voters are increasingly interested in understanding the vision, strategy and policies of those offering themselves as alternatives.
The actress further stated that political discourse should move beyond blame games and focus on solutions that can improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Her comments have since generated reactions on social media, with supporters and critics of Peter Obi debating the issues she raised. While some agreed that opposition figures should provide clearer policy alternatives, others argued that Obi has consistently shared his views on governance and national development.
As conversations around Nigeria’s future continue ahead of the next electoral cycle, Amusa’s remarks have added another layer to the growing debate over accountability, leadership and the expectations Nigerians have of both government officials and opposition politicians.
