Music legend Stevie Wonder is set to revisit one of the defining albums of his career as he celebrates the 50th anniversary of Songs in the Key of Life with a world tour beginning in October. The 25-time Grammy winner will perform the landmark 1976 album in its entirety at each of the 18 shows scheduled across Europe and the United States.
The tour will begin on October 13 at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, United Kingdom, before travelling through major European cities including Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Dublin and London. Wonder will then begin the North American leg at New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 19, with further stops in Chicago, Washington, D.C., his native Detroit and Los Angeles, where the tour will conclude at the Intuit Dome on December 19.
Released in 1976, Songs in the Key of Life became one of Wonder’s most celebrated works, earning him the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1977. The album produced enduring classics including “I Wish,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Sir Duke,” “Another Star” and “As,” and has since been certified Diamond after selling more than 10 million copies. It was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and the U.S. National Recording Registry.
The anniversary tour will give audiences the rare opportunity to hear the entire album performed live rather than simply selected hits from Wonder’s extensive catalogue. The upcoming run also marks his first official tour since his 2024 Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart tour.
Reflecting on the album’s significance in a 1995 interview with Q Magazine, Wonder said Songs in the Key of Life was the album he was “most happy about,” recalling the period of his life when he became a father and drew strength from the experience.
Five decades after its release, the album remains a defining chapter in Wonder’s career, and the anniversary tour offers a new generation of listeners the chance to experience the project in the way he originally envisioned it — as a complete musical statement.
