President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that Nigeria must set the right example for the rest of Africa by implementing sound economic policies and sustaining reforms that inspire confidence across the continent.

Speaking at the 2026 Africa CEO Forum 2026 in Kigali, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stressed that, as Africa’s most populous nation and one of its largest economies, Nigeria has a responsibility to lead by example.

“Nigeria must sing the right tune to show the right direction to other African nations,” the President said while addressing business leaders, investors and policymakers from across the continent.

Tinubu noted that Nigeria’s ongoing reforms are aimed at restoring economic stability, attracting investment and creating a stronger foundation for long-term growth. He said the country’s progress would send a positive signal to other African nations pursuing similar development goals.

The President emphasized that Africa’s prosperity depends on bold leadership, policy consistency and greater collaboration between governments and the private sector. He added that when Nigeria gets its policies right, the impact is felt far beyond its borders.

According to him, Nigeria’s role in continental affairs places a special responsibility on the country to champion reforms that promote industrialization, job creation and regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Tinubu also called on African leaders and business executives to work together to unlock the continent’s vast potential through innovation, infrastructure development and cross-border partnerships.

The Africa CEO Forum, regarded as Africa’s largest annual gathering of private sector leaders and policymakers, brings together heads of state, chief executives and investors to discuss strategies for accelerating economic transformation. The 2026 edition is being held in Kigali under the theme “The Scale Imperative: Why Africa Must Embrace Shared Ownership.”

President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to economic reforms and regional cooperation, expressing confidence that the country will continue to play a leading role in shaping Africa’s future.
