As regional security tensions escalate along the southern border, three people have sustained minor injuries following coordinated attacks targeting two civilian airports in Saudi Arabia.

Attacks on Jazan and Najran Airports

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced on Tuesday that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport were struck on Monday evening, October 5, resulting in property damage. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed under established protocols, and the injured individuals were rushed to hospital for medical care.

While aviation authorities confirmed the strikes and subsequent infrastructural damage, GACA did not immediately attribute responsibility for the incident, nor did it confirm whether commercial flight operations faced disruptions.

“The injured people were taken to hospital for treatment. Emergency teams and other authorities responded immediately under established emergency procedures, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, or GACA, said.”

Regional Escalation and Houthi Claims

The incident coincides with a sharp spike in hostilities involving the Houthi movement and the Saudi-led coalition. Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement claimed responsibility for multiple missile and drone operations targeting sensitive locations across southern Saudi Arabia, including Jazan and Najran.

In response, the Saudi-led coalition reported intensified military countermeasures, including the destruction of a ballistic-missile launch platform in Sanaa and a weapons depot in Saada. Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the structural impact on civilian aviation facilities as security measures remain heightened.
