In celebration of the International Day of Rural Women, the Federal Government has extended its profound appreciation to Nigerian rural women farmers, recognizing their indispensable role as the backbone of national food security and sustainable agricultural development.
Embracing Smart and Gender-Friendly Agriculture
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, issued a formal statement highlighting the central position rural women hold in feeding the nation. Marking this year’s international observance under the global theme, “Rural Women Farmers Caring for Mother Nature,” Senator Kyari affirmed that the administration is actively implementing gender-sensitive and climate-smart agricultural policies designed to empower female farmers across every geopolitical zone.
The Minister paid special tribute to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her tireless advocacy, continuous encouragement, and hands-on support for smallholder women farmers nationwide.

“Rural women remain the cornerstone of our agricultural value chain. Through targeted policies and climate-smart support, government is ensuring they have the resources needed to feed the nation and protect our environment.” — Senator Abubakar Kyari
