FIFA has confirmed it will introduce a Super Bowl-style halftime show for the 2026 World Cup Final. This historic, first-ever performance will feature multiple major artistes and is being curated with input from Coldplay and its management, aiming for a massive, multi-artiste performance, with Nigerian artistes likely in focus given Afrobeats’ growing global presence.

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino aims to create a “fantastic” show involving more than one artiste to heighten the experience of the biggest match in football. While the world awaits the full list, Nigerians have every reason to follow the story closely as history shows that when football’s biggest stages include musicals, Nigerian artistes have consistently been involved. Beyond the halftime performance, FIFA is also planning a “takeover” of Times Square for the final weekend of the tournament, which is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The final is set to take place on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will be rebranded as New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament.
