The acclaimed actress was honoured with the 2,857th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with Snoop Dogg praising her for staying true to herself throughout a career spanning more than three decades.
US actress Nia Long has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking another milestone in a career that has made her a familiar face across film and television.
Long received the 2,857th star in the Motion Pictures category during a ceremony on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 6150 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also declared the day Nia Long Day in recognition of the actress.
The ceremony featured filmmaker and Michael producer Graham King and rapper and actor Snoop Dogg as guest speakers. Long’s career stretches back to the early 1990s, with notable roles in Boyz n the Hood, Friday, Love Jones, The Best Man, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Third Watch.
Snoop Dogg used his speech to highlight what he described as Long’s ability to build her career on her own terms. He said Hollywood can often pressure entertainers to change their appearance, speech and identity, and can even determine when it believes their careers should come to an end.
“Hollywood has a way of trying to change you, trying to tell you how to look, tell you how to talk, tell you who you’re supposed to be, and sometimes even tell you when your time is up.”
But, according to Snoop, Long resisted those pressures and remained committed to being herself.
“But Nia? She said, ‘nah, I’m going to be Nia.’ That’s why we’re still standing here, celebrating her after all these years.”
Snoop also reflected humorously on Long’s enduring popularity, telling the crowd that she had spent decades making Black men believe they had a chance with her, before joking that they did not—but that she allowed them to dream.
For Long, the star represented more than professional recognition. During her speech, she reflected on the five points of the star and connected each one to important people and experiences in her life, including God, her mother, her two sons and loved ones who had died.
Her most recent major film role was as Katherine Jackson in Michael, the biopic about the late music icon Michael Jackson. She has also reunited with Love Jones co-star Larenz Tate for Netflix’s upcoming romantic drama Don’t Ever Wonder, on which she serves as an executive producer.
Long’s Hollywood Walk of Fame honour therefore marks not only her decades of work but also the enduring identity she has built throughout her career—one that, as Snoop Dogg’s tribute emphasised, remained distinctly her own.
