A new scripted TV drama series about Céline Dion’s childhood and family is officially in development, marking the first time her family has supported a dramatized adaptation of her life. Produced by her brother Jacques Dion and based on the book Dion, A Family Saga by her nephew Jimmy Dion, the series will trace Céline’s formative years in Charlemagne, Quebec, where she grew up as the youngest of 14 siblings in a modest household. The show will spotlight the Dion family dynamic and Céline’s close bond with her mother, Thérèse.

According to Jacques Dion, the project is deeply meaningful for the family and captures the spirit, struggles, and love that defined their upbringing. “We are proud to finally share this story with the world in a way that feels true to who we are,” he said. The series will revisit pivotal moments, such as 12-year-old Céline co-writing her first song, “Ce n’était qu’un rêve,” with her mother and brother, and the family’s fateful decision to send a cassette of the song to music manager René Angélil. Moved by her voice, Angélil mortgaged his home to fund her debut album and would later become her husband.

Céline Dion’s life and career have inspired a range of documentaries and films, including I Am: Celine Dion (2024), which chronicles her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World (2010), and the fictionalized film Aline (2021). The upcoming series stands out for its direct involvement from the Dion family, promising an authentic look at the experiences that shaped one of the most celebrated vocalists in music history. With over 250 million records sold, five Grammy Awards, and a record-shattering Las Vegas residency, Dion’s influence on the world of music is unrivaled.

As she manages the challenges of Stiff Person Syndrome and continues her recovery, Céline Dion is preparing for a new series of comeback performances, further cementing her legacy as a global icon.
