The Federal Government of Nigeria has stepped up its efforts to empower young people through several program launched and promoted this September. Through the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and its partners, young Nigerians are being given opportunities to gain practical skills, contribute to national discussions, and participate in shaping policies that affect their future.
The program focus on key areas such as job creation, entrepreneurship, climate action, leadership, and youth participation in governance.
1. National Youth Confab 2026
The Federal Government has announced the National Youth Confab 2026, themed “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future.”
The initiative will give Nigerians aged 18–35 a platform to contribute ideas on jobs, education, technology, security, climate change and governance.
The virtual consultation will run from October 5–21, while the physical conference is scheduled for October 26–30 in Abuja.
2. NYSC 2026 Batch C Pre-Orientation Workshop
The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has launched the 2026 Batch C Pre-Orientation Workshop alongside the NYSC Staff E-Training Portal.
The digital platform will provide NYSC staff with training materials and professional development opportunities to improve service delivery and administration.
3. AGRI360 Mechanization Training Initiative
The Federal Government has launched the AGRI360 Mechanization Training Initiative to train 5,000 women and youths in modern agriculture.
Participants will learn agricultural mechanization, digital farming, equipment operation, entrepreneurship and agribusiness management.
4. State of the Nigerian Youth Dialogue 2026
The State of the Nigerian Youth Dialogue 2026 held in Abuja on September 3, bringing together youths, government officials and development partners.
Discussions focused on education, skills development, unemployment, leadership and youth participation in decision-making, with participants producing a Youth Resolution to guide future policies.
5. Waste to Wealth Initiative
The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has expanded the Waste to Wealth Initiative to Borno, Lagos, Enugu, Akwa Ibom and the FCT.
The one-month programme provides training and internship opportunities in recycling, waste management, upcycling and creative crafts, helping young people develop green-economy skills and business opportunities.
Overall, September 2026 has seen several government initiatives focused on youth empowerment, skills development, entrepreneurship, employment and participation in national development.
