With a mission to drive commercial viability and reinforce its position as Africa’s largest television network, the Nigerian Television Authority—under the leadership of Director General Mallam Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos—continues to champion quality programming, deliver news beyond borders, and prioritize robust revenue generation.

Delivering his keynote address at the 2026 National Marketing Conference the DG NTA, Mallam Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, emphasized the need for a strategic transformation agenda to maintain the organization’s strong positioning. He underscored that “the customer is the centre of our existence,” and called for stronger collaborations, the sharing of ideas, and enhanced marketing intelligence.

The DG also acknowledged the value of modern technological tools, noting that while they are essential for improving productivity, they should complement—not replace—human capacity. He also highlighted the upcoming 2027 national elections in Nigeria as a major milestone, emphasizing NTA’s constitutional and national responsibility to promote peaceful participation and provide balanced coverage during this critical period.

Present at the opening day of the conference were NTA’s Executive Directors, Directors, and Heads of Stations from across the country. In his brief remarks, Executive Director News, Ayo Adewuyi, noted that modern marketing is driven by data and technology. Meanwhile, Executive Director Programmes, Tari Taylaur, emphasized the importance of maintaining standards and sound editorial judgment, even as the organization pursues greater revenue generation. Taylaur also expressed gratitude to the Marketing Directorate for their continuous support and collaboration with the Programmes Directorate.

As part of the strategic planning for this year’s conference, three distinguished resource persons—Dr. Bala Muhammed, Prof. Umaru Pate, and Prof. Seth Akutson—were invited to deliver lectures centered on the theme, “Beyond Traditional Broadcasting: Unlocking New Revenue Frontiers for the Nigerian Television Authority.”

Planning committee chairman Noma Erhabor explained that the theme was chosen in response to the demands of modern marketing, emphasizing the need to think outside the box and embrace the opportunities of the digital era. She also announced that six outstanding stations will be recognized for their revenue generation achievements in 2025, with the awards forming part of the conference agenda.
