Female Islamic Scholars Move to Guide Youth on Social Media Use

Female Islamic scholars in Nigeria say they will collaborate with stakeholders to provide guidance and counseling for young girls aimed at reducing the posting of social media content considered contrary to cultural values and religious teachings.

The commitment was made during a two-day workshop on the role of female Islamic scholars and teachers in the digital era, organized by Alkalanci in collaboration with Mata Media. Participants at the workshop discussed the growing influence of digital platforms on young people and emphasized the need for mentorship, education, and responsible online behaviour.

The scholars highlighted the importance of balancing modern technology use with respect for cultural identity, moral values, and religious principles. The event also explored how female educators and religious leaders can play a stronger role in guiding youth through the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital age.
