All is now set for the inauguration of the Ojota–Mende-Opebi Link Bridge in Lagos, by President Bola Tinubu. The 4.52 km infrastructure that features a deck-on-pile bridge, is a major infrastructure project expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity within the state.

The bridge stretches across a swampy area, connecting Opebi in Ikeja to Mende and Maryland. It features an interchange beneath the existing Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, providing seamless access to Ikorodu Road. Beyond serving as an alternative route, it creates a direct link between Opebi, Mende, and Maryland, helping to cut down travel time and enhance connectivity to other parts of the state.

Although there were existing connecting road networks before now, there was no direct route of this scale.

Conceived 20 years prior by the president when he was the governor of Lagos state and executed by the Sanwo-Olu’s administration, the project is part of the broader efforts to modernize and upgrade infrastructure in Lagos State.
