The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made significant progress in transforming Abuja, revealing that more than 70 per cent of abandoned projects inherited by the FCT Administration have now been completed that had been abandoned for about 15 to 16 years.
Speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Thursday, Wike credited the achievement to President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that consistent funding and strong political support have enabled the FCT Administration to revive projects that had remained abandoned for years.
He remarked that leaving those projects abandoned was doing a great disservice to the Nigerian people and it was a priority for the Tinubu administration to attend to those ones first while bringing up new ones.
According to the minister, the completion of these projects has not only improved road connectivity and public infrastructure across the capital city but has also restored public confidence in the government’s ability to deliver on its promises. He said several long-delayed projects that were once considered unlikely to be completed have now been delivered and commissioned for public use.
Wike explained that the administration remains focused on ensuring that every project embarked upon delivers value to residents of the Federal Capital Territory, adding that work is continuing on other strategic developments aimed at improving transportation, urban renewal and access to essential services.
He reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to sustaining the pace of development, stressing that Abuja must continue to reflect the vision of a modern capital city capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and national aspirations.
