The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to contractors handling the Abuja–Lokoja Road project to fully mobilize to site and commence urgent repair works.

The directive was given during an inspection tour of the highway alongside officials of the Ministry of Works and members of the media. Umahi emphasized that funds have already been released by the Federal Government and must be effectively utilized to address the most critical sections of the road.

The Abuja–Lokoja Road remains one of Nigeria’s busiest transportation corridors, serving as a major link between the Federal Capital Territory and several parts of the country. Concerns have been raised over deteriorating sections of the highway and the impact on commuters, businesses, and road safety.

The minister warned that contractors must demonstrate commitment to the project by immediately deploying personnel and equipment to site in line with the government’s expectations.
